Sheriff releases video of man who stole $24K in pills from pharmacy

JAMES ISLAND, SC (WCSC)- The Charleston County Sheriff's Office has released video and pictures of a bandaged man who stole prescription drugs from a James Island pharmacy.

Major Jim Brady, sheriff's office spokesman, said the man held up the Walgreens at the corner of Folly and Camp roads just before 10:50 p.m. Sunday.

Brady said the suspect walked up to the counter and demanded Oxycontin.  When pharmacists told him he was being videotaped, the suspect began reaching into an arm sling, suggesting he had a weapon.

When the pharmacist asked the suspect if he had something in his sling he was reaching for, the suspect reportedly said, "Yes, but I don't want to use it."

Pharmacists then handed over 800 tablets of oxycontin, oxycodone, and roxicodone totalling $24,000 in value, according to the report.

The suspect left the store on foot.
