JAMES ISLAND (WCSC) - Charleston County Council approved a proposal for the new Harbor View Road design during a meeting Tuesday night.

The County decided to go with the more expensive and environment-friendly plan.  The decision will raise the cost of the project by $1.5 million and delay the completion by 18 months.

County staffers had recommended using the original plan which widened the road, but the council opted for the alternative plan.
