Severe weather in the forecast through Wednesday afternoon

Severe weather in the forecast through Wednesday afternoon

Live 5 Meteorologist Justin Lock has your Wednesday forecast:

Heavy rain continues around Charleston and will become more scattered in nature over the next few hours with the heaviest ending by lunchtime.

The threat of severe weather will continue until at least 4pm but severe storms will be isolated.  As we saw this morning storms will have the potential to spin up quickly into “potential” weak fast moving tornadoes.

Tornado watches are currently in effect from Savannah, GA to coastal Florida until 3pm.

It will be very windy this afternoon with winds gusting to 40 mph which could bring down some trees because of the saturated soils plus will cause tough driving conditions thru the evening rush.  Most of the rain should be gone by rush hour with only isolated showers/storms possible.

Wet weather returns today, tomorrow

Wet weather returns today, tomorrow

After a brief reprieve and a lovely Sunday, Live 5 Meteorologist Justin Lock says the wet weather returns at the start of this week:

Another round of soaking rains this afternoon will last thru a good part of Tuesday before drier weather returns mid-week.

Expect a wet, cold and breezy Monday with highs unseasonably cool in the mid 50s and a chilly NE breeze 15-20 mph.  Rain will be heavy at times this afternoon, evening and overnight with 1-2" of rainfall possible.

There is a slight risk of strong to severe storms on Tuesday as a cold front whips thru the Lowcountry.

Have a great Monday and try and stay dry!
